Owing to several incidences caused by
some set of persons parading
themselves as members of the newly
inaugurated Compliance and
Monitoring Unit of the Ministry and the
ghastly accident thay occurred along
Aka-Nung Udoe road yesterday 7 of
July, 2017 which have been unduly
tagged to the Ministry of Transport and
Petroleum Resources, The Ministry
wishes to express its genuine position
in the matter as follows:
. The Ministry is deeply saddened by
the event and expresses its earnest
sympathy to the family of the
deceased.
. The Ministry does not recognize any
persons or group of persons parading
themselves as Task Personnels in the
state and Metropolis.
. The purported task force was officially
banned from operations in the state
and so any persons or group of
persons operating under such guise
are criminals and should be treated as
such by the public.
. The Compliance and Monitoring
officers have been assigned uniforms
and their names tagged to the uniform
for easy Identification whereas such is
not a member of the compliance and
monitoring Unit.
. The Ministry will henceforth not
tolerate the activities of illegal loaders
or loading points in the state
metropolis.
. That members of the public should at
all time use Government approved
parks so as to forestall such
incidences.
. The Ministry hereby disclaim these
persons as they are not working for the
ministry under any guise and hereby
express its determination to assist the
police and other law enforcement
agents to unravel those involved in this
gruesome event and other irregularities
in the state.
. The ministry is determined to resist
those whose stock in trade is to
sabotage government’s efforts and
activities of some criminal elements to
ensure the Transport sector is
completely transformed and modest.
By this release, we implore all and
sundry to be objective in reacting to
the foregoing while also propagating
the need for strict adherence to
Governments guidelines and policies to
ensure best practices in the sector for
the entire good of all.
